Bhubaneswar: Aparajita Sarangi, a BJP MP from Bhubaneswar, claimed on Sunday that the Odisha government had failed to protect her from "sponsored hooligans," but she claimed on Monday that Mission Shakti members were being deployed to attack her while she carried out her duties in her area.

The Parliamentarian claimed that the government and the ruling party, the BJD, planned to mobilize certain women in opposition to her visit, but that this was stopped by "the love and blessings of the people of the constituency." She also said that they brought stones, eggs, and black flags to the event and posted images of them doing so on his 'X' account.

Notably, when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik introduced the program on March 5, 2001, Aparajita was the inaugural MD of Mission Shakti. The former bureaucrat-turned-politician has progressively emerged as one of the BJD and the state government's most outspoken critics.

She attacked the chief minister and his administration on Sunday for the numerous demonstrations that occurred during her speech in the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency, claiming that they are in charge of her safety and security as well as such unfortunate happenings. "These protests have been planned intentionally throughout my trips to various parts of my district over the past three days. As a female MP, I feel uncomfortable here, she claimed at a press conference following her visit to the Jayadev Assembly segment.

There were also reports of scuffle reportedly between the supporters of the two parties.

BJD spokesperson Shreemayee Mishra had earlier said that the MP has been branding the voters as hooligans for questioning her about her work.
