Balangir: A car rammed into a wedding procession in a village in Odisha's Balangir district, killing one person and critically injuring over seven others.

According to sources, the incident occurred in Baghajharan village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Khaprakhole police station in the district, when the car meant to transport the bridegroom ran over the revelers and collided with another vehicle.

The car, which had been rented for the purpose of transporting the bridegroom, arrived at high speed and unexpectedly ran over members of the barat when the processing had just begun late on Friday night.

Raja Bariha, a man, died on the spot, and seven others were critically injured after being hit by the car.

The injured were rushed to Balangir's Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where their condition was described as critical.

A police team arrived on the scene and began an investigation into the incident. More information is awaited.
