Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police is preparing to deploy advanced drones in Bhubaneswar for effective surveillance and other policing activities.

Drone deployment will significantly reduce criminal activity in the city by providing constant monitoring from the skies. They will make it easier for police to monitor street crime.

Prateek Singh, the DCP of Bhubaneswar, stated that the Commissionerate Police is now relying on technology to strengthen law and order, surveillance, and crowd management.

According to the DCP, the Commissionerate Police has inducted an advanced drone with a range of 5 kilometers and the ability to monitor activities from a height of 500 meters.

During rallies, gheraos, and other international events in the state capital, the advanced drone will be used for traffic management and surveillance.

Previously, police officers were stationed on rooftops during VVIP visits and other programs to maintain law and order. He believes that drone technology will now be useful in this regard. Drones will also be used for surveillance and traffic management during festivals.

While only one drone has been brought so far, more will be purchased after its utility is evaluated.
