Cuttack: A court in Odisha's Cuttack acquitted the dreaded 'Dhalasamanta brothers' and their aide Arif Khan of the sensational murder of a wholesale trader.
Due to a lack of evidence, the court of the district and sessions Judge of Cuttack acquitted Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta, as well as Arif Khan.
The police had arrested the two brothers, known as the 'D-brothers,' as well as alleged sharpshooter Arif Khan, in connection with the death of wholesale pulses trader Sheikh Farooq of Cuttack Malgodown.
Previously, the court acquitted four other accused persons in the sensational murder case due to a lack of evidence, and another is said to be on the run.
It should be noted that Farooq was murdered on November 12, 2014, at his shop in Malgodown. The murder was allegedly planned by D-brothers for extortion, and contract killers were hired to eliminate Farooq.
According to sources, the trader refused to pay Rs 30 lakh in extortion money.
In December 2020, the police raided the Dhalasamanta brothers' house at CDA in Cuttack and recovered 19 sophisticated country-made pistols, 24 magazines and 1,095 different types of ammunition, 16 mobile phones, and four motorcycles.
