Berhampur: A deceased leader's name appears on the list of the reconstituted legal front of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha.

On Saturday, while reconstituting the party's legal front, the BJD announced the names of the new body's office bearers, which included the heads of 33 organizational districts. The appointment office order was issued on February 25.

According to sources, the name of a deceased advocate appears on the list of presidents of the party's 33 organizational districts.

Ramnath Mishra, who died on October 31, last year, was mentioned as the president of the BJD legal front for Gajapati district.

76 years old Mishra, was the president of the lawyers' association in Paralakhemnudi for 25 years and a well-known leader in the Gajapati district.

People in the area were taken aback by the announcement of the deceased advocate's name as BJD legal front district pesident.

A similar incident occurred in September of last year, when the name of a deceased woman leader was found on the list of executive body members of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD), the ruling BJD's women wing.

According to the list of newly elected officials, 68 women leaders have been appointed to the executive body. It listed Meenakshi Mishra as a Berhampur executive body member. However, she died in 2020.
