Bhubaneswar: On Thursday morning, a thick blanket of fog engulfed several places in Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, reducing visibility to 20-50 meters.

From 4.30 a.m. onwards, dense fog was observed at Bomikal, Rasulgarh, and Palasuni in the state capital, according to sources. Because of the reduced visibility, vehicular traffic on the NH-16 Bhubaneswar-Cuttack road was hampered. This morning's commute was difficult for students, vendors, and others.

However, traffic on city streets was light due to a strike called by bus and auto-rickshaw drivers.

Notably, the regional meteorological center has forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls in several districts of the state until the morning of March 20.
