Puri: Late Wednesday, a man allegedly hacked his father to death in an inebriated state at Sanakanti village in Odisha's Puri district's Pipili police limits.
Hrushikesh Pradhan (60) was identified as the deceased.
According to sources, his son, Jeetu Pradhan, regularly drank alcohol and arrived home drunk last night. Hrushikesh confronted Jeetu, who chased him with an axe. When he tried to flee, Jeetu grabbed him, dragged him back to the house, and hacked him to death.
According to sources, Jeetu used to harass his parents for money to buy liquor. His parents were fed up with his alcohol addiction, and the family had frequent squabbles.
Following notification from the villagers, police arrived on the scene and recovered the body for postmortem examination. Jeetu has been arrested and questioned.
