Bhubaneswar: On Friday, excise department officials arrested eight people allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade and seized 238 liters of domestic liquor in Bhubaneswar.
According to a source, the seizure occurred during a special operation launched by the Excise department against illegal liquor production and sale in various locations throughout Odisha's capital.
Raids were conducted in response to information that illegal country-made liquor was being smuggled in various areas, including Bharatpur, Kharabela Nagar, and near the Capital Police Station.
Excise officials seized the illegal liquor from various locations and arrested eight people in connection with it.
Those arrested are being interrogated in order to learn more about the involvement of others in the racket. According to the sources, additional investigation is underway.
