Fraudsters are now using ATM cash-trapping methods to swindle people out of their hard-earned money. Cash trapping is a method used by criminals to tamper with an ATM and steal money without causing any physical damage.

Reports indicate that in this type of fraud, criminals insert a device into an ATM, causing the machine to block the release of money. As a result, the cardholder may believe that the ATM is dysfunctional and that the cash will be returned in case of a failed transaction.

The device installed by criminals traps the cash that is supposed to be dispensed to the customers. When a customer enters their PIN to withdraw cash, the money is deducted from their account but no cash is dispensed.
