'Muslims have 56 castes, Christians 86, you want to give them...': Nishikant Dubey has issued a challenge to Rahul Gandhi regarding the caste census in Karnataka.
BJP's fiery MP stated that the Congress has long opposed OBC reservation and never appointed an OBC Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
BJP's MP from Godda, Nishikant Dubey, has once again launched a scathing attack on Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, for his stand on caste census. Dubey mentioned that if Gandhi is determined to implement caste census, he should first do so in Karnataka. He also criticized Gandhi for claiming injustice to OBCs, stating that the Congress has historically opposed reservation for OBCs and has never appointed an OBC Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
During his speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Dubey asked Congress and the opposition how they plan to conduct a caste census for those who do not identify with any religion or caste. He highlighted that in multiple Congress manifestos from 1952 to 1991, the party stated its opposition to OBC reservation. Additionally, he called out the Congress for never appointing an OBC Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and apart from Daroga Rai, Bihar. Dubey also accused the Congress party of sidelining Daroga Rai when he provided reservations for OBCs and of toppling governments that aimed to provide OBC reservations.
The Member of Parliament from Godda recently accused the JMM-Congress government of allowing demographic change in Jharkhand. He challenged Rahul Gandhi, asking why his government did not implement a caste census in 2011, and why the Congress government was not implementing a caste-based census report that has already been released in Karnataka.
He also questioned why the OBC reservation was not implemented from 2011 and why the socio-economic reservation in Karnataka, where the Congress has been in power for the past two years, has not been implemented. He stated that the reason it hasn't been implemented is because Islam and Christianity do not recognize the caste system, and the intention is to provide OBC reservations to 86 Christian castes and 56 Muslim castes through indirect means.
He further claimed that the lack of capability to implement OBC reservations in Karnataka indicates a lack of courage, and challenged Congress and Rahul Gandhi to implement OBC reservation in Karnataka if they have the courage.
The BJP MP criticized the Prime Minister, stating that he comes from a backward community and used to be a tea-seller. The MP also pointed out that the Congress has no right to talk about OBC (Other Backward Classes) since the Prime Minister has prioritized the OBC community. Additionally, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Health Minister JP Nadda criticized Rahul Gandhi on OBC representation in the government. Sitharaman highlighted that if the Congress had implemented the recommendations of the Kalelkar Commission and Mandal Commission for OBC reservation in the past, OBC individuals would have reached higher positions in government. She further questioned the representation of SCs and OBCs on the boards of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Charitable Trust, urging the Congress to address the issue within their own organizations before raising it with others.
