Ollywood actor arrested for duping woman professor of ₹85 lakh

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested Ajitav Mallik on Monday on charges of defrauding an assistant professor at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, of Rs 85 lakh under the guise of selling her a duplex.
According to sources, the victim paid Mallik in multiple installments for a duplex worth Rs 1 crore in the city of Kolathia in 2020. He then went silent and refused to sell the property to the woman, who claimed she was threatened with dire consequences and forced to sell off her gold ornaments.
Following that, she filed a complaint with Khandagiri police against him and his family members, whom she claimed were well educated. She also claimed that they had duped other people and used the money to produce a film and open a restaurant in Hyderabad.
Ajitav produced the Odia film 'Arundhati,' which starred Elina Priyadarshini and Rajveeer in 2021. He also played a role in it.
