Cuttack: The former secretary of the Staff Selection Committee (OSSC), Biranchai Narayan Sahu, was granted conditional release by the Odisha High Court on Tuesday.

Vigilance sleuths apprehended Sahu in a graft case for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets worth over Rs 3.51 crore and other valuables.

Sahu was given conditional bail based on his affidavit that he would be available to investigators whenever they requested his presence and would not tamper with evidence.

Sahu's disproportionate assets accounted for 268 percent of his recognised sources of income, according to officials from the Vigilance Directorate. On the suspicion that he had collected ill-gotten money, the sleuths raided his assets in six locations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, including his double-story mansion at Niladri Bihar in Bhubaneswar.

14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Khurda, over Rs 56 lakh in insurance deposits, over Rs 25 lakh in cash, and Rs 60 lakh in gold ornaments were among Sahoo's holdings.

On August 17, his wife Sudhanshubala Sahu, an insurance agent, was granted conditional bail by the court.
