One killed, six injured as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Cuttack

Two people were murdered on Friday at Athagarh in the Cuttack district of Odisha when an auto-rickshaw and a truck collided head-on. One of the victims was an eight-month-old baby.

Cuttack: Two people were murdered on Friday at Athagarh in the Cuttack district of Odisha when an auto-rickshaw and a truck collided head-on. One of the victims was an eight-month-old baby.

According to authorities, the accident happened when six members of a family of 42 Mouzas traveling to Gania village in Nayagarh district to attend a 10-day ritual of a relative were near Panchagaon Gas Depot under Tigiria police limits in the area.

Prabhat Naik passed away from his injuries after the locals saved the injured people and took them to Tigiria Community Health Center. The infant passed away while receiving care at SCB Medical College and Hospital after three of the critically injured were sent there.

Binod Samal, the auto-rickshaw driver, was seriously hurt during the accident. The sources claimed that Ramachandra Behera, another person who was selling fish by the side of the road when he was struck by the car, had severe injuries as well.

Tigiria police were notified and arrested the truck driver. The situation is the subject of an investigation.
