Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, a team of Twin City Commissionerate Police officers traveled to Kolkata to investigate harassment allegations leveled against singer Sourin Bhatt.

A woman had approached Mahila police, alleging that Bhatt had taken advantage of her by falsely promising her a break in the music industry.

According to sources, the team was sent to Kolkata because the popular playback singer did not appear before the Mahila Police in Cuttack. Cops are likely to question the singer about the allegations leveled against him.

The woman has also accused the singer of making false marriage promises, cheating, torturing, and exploitation. She also claimed that the singer extorted Rs 10 lakh from her.

While a case was filed under Sections 376 (sexual assault), 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage), 341 (wrongful restraints), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 417 (cheating), and 506 (threat to cause death or grievous harm), the complainant's statements were also recorded under Section 161 of the CrPC.
