Bhubaneswar: A day after two Odisha ministers resigned, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallik was given additional responsibility for the departments of School and Mass Education as well as Labour.

According to sources, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assigned Mallik the two additional portfolios.

Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das, and Labour Minister Srikant Sahu all resigned their positions on Friday.

The resignations of the three BJD leaders come amid speculation that the Chief Minister will reshuffle the ministry soon.

With Assembly elections less than a year away, Sahu said he would take on party organizational duties. Das also responded along the same lines.


While Arukha stated that he resigned for personal reasons, it was speculated that he might be given a ministerial berth.
