Bhubaneswar: On Monday, a BJP delegation met with Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal in Bhubaneswar, drawing his attention to the alleged deterioration of the state's law and order situation.

The delegation, led by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra, met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan and accused the police of failing to maintain law and order in the state.

Mishra told reporters after the meeting that the delegation informed the Governor about alleged police excesses against Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists during a recent protest in Bhubaneswar.

The senior BJP leader slammed the BJD government in the state, claiming that it failed to control the state's law and order situation.

In reference to the mysterious murder of Minister Naba Kishore Das by a police officer, Mishra stated that despite the passage of more than a month since the sensational killing, the state government is still in the dark about those responsible.

The BJP leader also claimed that BJYM activists who were protesting the deteriorating law and order situation were attacked by police, and that several of them were falsely charged and arrested. "Law and order has deteriorated, and BJP workers face the wrath of the ruling party," he claimed.

Mishra claimed that 1,379 murders and 3,184 rape cases were registered in the state in 2020, presenting a true picture of law and order. He also claimed that BJD leaders are being accused of involvement in several crimes, including murder.

He stated that the BJP team urged the Governor to look into the matter and sought his intervention to improve the state's law and order situation.
