Odisha: The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) issued show cause notices to 55 candidates on Saturday in connection with the leak of the Junior Engineer (Civil) main written examination question paper.
In issuing the notices based on the report from Balasore Superintendent of Police, the Commission asked the candidates why they should not be barred from future OSSC recruitments for life.
"Efforts are being made in collaboration with Balasore Police to connect the remaining 37 candidates with their applications." "Police have been asked for additional information to help link the candidates to the application," the Commission stated.
It should be noted that the OSSC cancelled the Main Written Examination for JE (Civil) on July 23, 2023, after Balasore SP confirmed the question paper leak. The examination has also been rescheduled for September 3 by the Commission.
On Thursday, the Balasore Police claimed to have solved the OSSC question paper leak case, revealing that the leak occurred from a printing press located outside of Odisha.
Balasore Police arrested eight more people on Thursday, including the mastermind behind the question paper leak incident. All of the defendants were arrested in Bihar, and the mastermind in the case is said to be a Bihar government employee.
So far, 17 people have been arrested in connection with the question paper leak case, including the mastermind.
