Puri: With the trial run on Monday, Odisha is on track to receive its second Vande Bharat Express train between Puri and Rourkela by the end of September.

The semi-high-speed train left Puri railway station at 9.30 a.m. and is scheduled to arrive in Talcher at 12.30 p.m., according to Indian Railways. During its trial run, it would stop at Puri, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul, and Talcher Road, according to a loco pilot.

The train is predicted to travel at a speed of 63.33 km/h-65.16 kmph on average.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on August 14th, when flagging off the Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express with Tejas carriages, that the second Vande Bharat train service between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar will begin soon. According to several media sources, Prime Minister Modi would likely launch the semi-high speed on September 30.

The train was introduced after the entire stretch was upgraded to a maximum allowable speed of 130 mph. The eight-coach train arrived in Puri from Chennai on September 1.

On May 18, the first Vande Bharat Express between Puri and Howrah was launched. PM Modi then promised Odisha another semi-high-speed train. According to sources, the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express will cater to the rush between the coastal and western Odisha regions.
