Jagatsinghpur: On Sunday, a man allegedly hacked two women to death with a sword in the Kujang area of Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district.
Chintua Nath (35) was charged, and the deceased women were Anita Rout (42) and Nirmala Lenka (54).
According to preliminary reports, the man barged into Anita's house this morning and attacked her with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot.
Nirmala was trying to escape her house after hearing her screams when the accused attacked her as well. She was rescued in critical condition and taken to Kujang Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
The accused was said to be under the influence of a narcotic. The reason for the attack has yet to be determined.
The accused has been detained at the Kujang police station, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The police have seized the weapon of crime, and the bodies have been sent for autopsies.
