Leopard Found Dead In Dhenkanal Forest

Dhenkanal: A leopard's decaying body was discovered in suspicious condition in a woodland in the area in another crime against wildlife.

Locals discovered the dead leopard in a forest in the Hindol range and contacted officials, according to sources in the Dhenkanal Forest Department.

Forest officials arrived on the scene and discovered a leopard's body trapped in a hunter's net. According to the early post-mortem assessment, the wild animal perished without sustenance four days ago.

Forest officials have begun an inquiry to identify the hunters who scattered the net around the forest.

Forest officials seized the hide of a Royal Bengal tiger from Butu Mahakud in Rebanapalaspal village, Deogaon forest range, Anandpur wildlife division, Keonjhar district, in a similar occurrence.

Following the confiscation of the hide during raids on Mahakud's home on Friday, Assistant Conservator of Forests Ghanashyam Mahant told the media about it.
