Bhubaneswar: Sixteen devotees were injured in separate motorcycle and car accidents on the Bhubaneswar-Puri NH-316.
According to sources, the victims were mostly two-wheeler riders who were allegedly hit by cars on their way to Puri on Thursday for "Suna Besha" darshan of the sibling deities due to alleged traffic mismanagement.
Though the identities of the injured were not immediately revealed, they are believed to have come from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Jajpur.
The injured were initially treated at a health center in Sakhigopal before being transferred to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. Five of them are said to be in critical condition.
Sakhigopal Police registered separate cases and began an investigation in this regard.
