Umerkote: A police jawan was electrocuted and died at the Raighar Kodbhata police camp on Saturday morning, while another officer was hurt as he attempted to turn off the electricity in an attempt to save the former.
Isaac Harijan died of electrocution after placing his hand on a window at his camp, according to sources. He perished in an instant. He was from the village of Jatabal in the Nabarangapur district.
Meanwhile, a colleague, Tanka Saura, observed Isaac acquire electric shocks and tried to turn off the power, but he was electrocuted as well before collapsing. For treatment, he was transferred to Raighar Primary Health Centre. The tragedy is said to have been caused by a short-circuit in the camp's tin roof.
