Rayagada: On Monday, two young boys from Odisha's Rayagada district were reported missing after being washed away in the Vamsadhara River in the Gunupur neighborhood.

The event happened at the Chandrapur Minajhola Shiva Shrine in the district's Gunpur subdivision.

Ratnakar Badanayak (age 9) and Samuit Badset (age 10) of Srirampur village in the Kotgada block of the Kandhamal district have been named as the missing youngsters.

On the final Monday of the revered Shravan month, according to sources, the two went to the shrine to make prayers. The guys fell into the river as a result of slipping on the shrine's slick surface. They vanished after being carried away by the powerful river.

Following notification, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team and the fire service personnel arrived at the spot and launched a search operation to find them.
