Sundargarh: Three Odisha residents were nabbed by Jharkhand police for allegedly extorting money from truck drivers while impersonating as RTOs and cops at Joram Ghati on the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

Prakash Gupta of Sundargarh, Tutu Dehury of Angul, and Praveen Pradhan of the same district have been arrested.

On Monday night, the three were discovered extorting money from truck drivers on the National Highway near Ambapani forest by impersonating Sundargarh RTO and officers, according to police sources. They later committed a similar offense in the Birmitrapur area at Kendumunda. The trio was driving an Innova.

Suspecting foul play, some truck drivers notified authorities, who subsequently pursued them. According to the sources, additional inquiry is underway to determine the probable involvement of others in the crime.
