Adharapana rituals: Trinity offered with delicious drink

Puri: On their respective chariots, the Holy Trinity of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will be presented with a sweet and delectable beverage. The rituals, whose preparations are practically finished, will be performed this afternoon.

The special beverage is traditionally served to the gods in the nine earthen jars that stretch up to their mouths. Three pots are provided by the SJTA (Shree Jagannath Temple Administration), Badaodia Mutt, and Raghab Das Mutt, respectively.

Offering "Pana," a unique beverage made with milk, banana, cheese, aromatic spices, and water, is part of the well-known rite known as "Adhara Pana." The rite is performed in accordance with an ancient custom atop three chariots belonging to the gods Nandighosha, Taladhwaja, and Devadalana.

The tasty beverage is made by the Mahasuara servitors by combining the ingredients with holy water that has been drawn from a well. The spillover beverage is thought to be for the minor deities worshipped by Raths and malevolent spirits.

It should be mentioned that after a two-year break, worshippers will have the chance to see the ceremonies. The Covid-19 epidemic prevented them from seeing the rites in 2020 and 2021.
