CM felicitates India rugby U-18 girls' team

Bhubaneswar: For Thursday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the India Under-18 girls' team on their silver medal performance at the Asia Rugby Under-18 Girls' Rugby Sevens Championship 2021 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and presented them with a monetary prize of Rs 5 lakh.

Tarulata Naik, Mama Naik, and Nirmalya Rout were all members of the Indian squad that advanced to the final before falling to the UAE in a close match.

“You played wonderfully and nearly missed the gold,” the chief minister praised all of the players as he interacted with them. We are quite proud of this accomplishment. You've demonstrated grit, speed, skill, and tenacity. I am confident that this is the beginning of a new adventure in the next years, and that you will all make history.”

The team players expressed their gratitude to Naveen for his unwavering support for sports, particularly rugby.

Tusharkanti Behera, the state's sports minister, was present at the award ceremony.
