COVID Restrictions For Vote Counting Relaxed By The SEC
Bhubaneswar: With the number of instances in Odisha declining, the State Election Commission (SEC) has eased COVID-19 limits on counting votes in panchayat elections.
The SEC has previously issued instructions requiring officials visiting counting centres within 48 hours of the start of counting to do a mandatory RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen test, even if they were fully vaccinated.
The SEC sent a letter to all district collectors on Monday regarding the loosening of limits.
All those entering counting centres will be subjected to thermal scanning under the new guidelines, but they must be double vaccinated.
