Keonjhar: The bodies of a couple were discovered in a pool of blood inside a residence in Harichandpur, Odisha's Keonjhar district, on Sunday, amid allegations that they were slain for practicing sorcery.
Bahada Murmu (45) and his wife Dhani Murmu were recognized as the deceased (35).
According to accounts, the heinous occurrence occurred in Jhumkipatia village, within the jurisdiction of Harichandanpur police station, while the couple was sleeping in the house, and the remains were discovered the following day.
Unknown miscreants were said to have broken into their home and murdered them with an axe before fleeing.
After receiving the information, a team of police officers went to the location and recovered the remains. The bodies were transported for autopsies.
While the specific cause of the crime is unknown, villagers believe the couple was slain because they were accused of practicing sorcery, according to sources.
