Youth drowns while learning swimming in Mahanadi
Cuttack: On Sunday morning, a young man drowned in the Mahanadi river near the Jobra barrage in Cuttack, Odisha.
Sohail Khan, a Peer Bazar resident, has been identified as the dead.
According to accounts, Sohail was learning to swim in the Mahanadi with 49 other members of the Nimpur Sports Club when he drowned in the river. His associates were unable to save him right away.
After receiving the information, local firefighters came on the scene and began the rescue efforts.
Sohail's body was found from the water after hours of searching and transported to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem. A police spokesman added, "The trainer has been held for questioning."
Meanwhile, the deceased's father said that Fire Services employees arrived at the scene an hour after the accident, resulting in Sohail's death. "Firefighters lacked the necessary equipment to save a drowning victim." My son used to go through training in order to join the Indian Army. "He prepared by running and swimming," he explained.
