Online Shopping Goes Wrong As Minor Falls Prey To Cyber Fraud In Odisha
Cuttack: On Friday, a minor girl in Odisha's Cuttack fell victim to cyber fraud after ordering from online platforms.
According to authorities, the minor girl from Nua Bazaar received the parcel as part of one of her orders from the delivery firm E-Kart. Her mother received it while she was away and paid Rs 400. She later discovered a rag pile inside the package and summoned the delivery boy. She demanded that the parcel be returned and a refund be initiated, after which he requested that she provide him with a PhonePe number to which he could transfer the funds.
Because she did not have her own PhonePe account, the minor girl supplied him the number of a neighbor.
The caller then instructed the individual to click on the link on the PhonePe number in order to receive the refund. But as soon as he did, Rs 19,000 was taken from his account.
In this regard, a complaint was filed with the Cyber Crime Police Station. Additional DCP Anil Mishra stated that the order was placed on Flipkart but has yet to be delivered. The case is being investigated.
