Berhampur: Expelled BJD leader and Odisha legislator Pradeep Panigrahi claimed on Wednesday that his life is in danger and that criminals are being recruited to assassinate him.
According to reports, the Gopalpur MLA claims to have gotten information from reputable sources regarding a powerful person recruiting criminals to kill him.
"According to information, the individual wants to get rid of me because he believes I am a threat to his interests," the former Minister told reporters.
Panigrahi, who described the purported development as serious, said his safety and security should be maintained because Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is regarded as the cleanest and most efficient.
Though no one has explicitly threatened him or called him, the senior leader stated that there is information that his life is in danger, which the appropriate agencies should probe.
Panigrahi further said that state government officials have been instructed not to speak with him despite the fact that he is a people's representative who represents Gopalpur in the state Assembly.
The congressman further stated that if something were to happen to him, his family, or his employees, the Chief Minister, who is in charge of the home department, would be held accountable.
