Bhubaneswar: Odisha is expected to see intense fog for two days starting January 17, according to the India Meteorological Department.

While some areas of the state will be blanketed in shallow to heavy fog on January 15 and 16, the MeT office has issued a Yellow alert for January 17 and 18.

Between 8.30 a.m. on January 17 and 8.30 a.m. on January 18, dense fog is very likely to occur in Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

In the next 24 hours, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, and Dhenkanal may have similar weather.

After 24 hours, the nighttime temperature is predicted to drop by 3-4°C.

The IMD has also issued a Yellow weather warning for thunderstorms with lightning in one or two locations in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagad

During the previous 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall/ thundershowers have occurred at most locations across Odisha's districts, with heavy rainfall at one location in Rayagada, according to the report.

In the next 24 hours, Skymet predicts light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in Odisha, including isolated hailstorms.
