Sources claim that during an anti-Maoist operation in Hanumal, Sindhiput, Ondeipadar, Andrahal, Mudulipada under Machhkund police limits of Koraput and Mudulipada police limits of Malkangiri district, a joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) Koraput recovered 17 metres of cordex wire, 31 gelatin sticks, 11 electronic detonators, one electric wire bundle, two tiffin bombs, one pressure cooker bomb, a testing pin and Rs 70,000 in cash.
Over 700 active Maoist supporters, including 300 militia members and many Andhra Pradesh residents, recently surrendered to security forces in the Malkangiri district.
On September 17, many people from the villages of Bhajaguda, Biseiguda, Khalguda, Patraput, Ondeipadar, Sambalpur, and Sindhiput in the Malkangiri district's Mudulipada police limits surrendered up their weapons. According to a statement from the state police, several more were from the Andhra Pradesh villages of Padalput, Kusumput, Matamput, and Jodigumma, which are all located in the Munchingput Police Station of the Alluri Sitharam Raju District.
These bordering villages between Odisha and AP were once Maoist strongholds.
