Fishermen make a fortune from Catching 28 Rare Telia Bhola Fish In Balasore
Balasore: A rare fish was caught by some fishermen in Odisha's Balasore area and sold for a staggering Rs 35 lakh.
Sources claim that fishermen from Mohana in the Jaleswar block of the district travelled to the Bay of Bengal's mouth off the coast of Digha on the boundary of Odisha and West Bengal to go fishing. When they removed their nets on Sunday, they discovered 28 extremely uncommon Telia Bhola fish in the catch.
Each fish weighed 8 to 10 kg when it was taken for sale in the neighbourhood market. The fish was sold at auction for Rs 14,000 per kg to the highest bidder. The whole thing was purchased for Rs 35 lakh by a pharmaceutical company from Kolkata.
It should be noted that the Telia Bhola fish's body parts are highly sought-after for their therapeutic properties on the global market. Its maw, which contains a lot of collagen, is used to make medicines to treat fatal diseases.
In a fish's stomach are the dried swim bladders of the larger species of fish.
