Gajapati: In the Mohana block of Odisha's Gajapati district, a guy posing as a government worker is accused of defrauding job seekers of Rs 15 lakh.

The accused, Mark Pradhan, created the "Holiness Women's Charity Foundation" as a "welfare organisation" and addressed himself to individuals as "Ashish Pradhan."

Several people reportedly paid Pradhan Rs 5,000 each in addition to the registration fee, and he allegedly promised them government employment as block and panchayat coordinators with monthly salaries of Rs 13,000 in exchange. Baby kit deliveries were also promised.

However, after labouring for three months, the victims from several Ganjam district neighbourhoods, including Digapahandi, Hinjilicut, Aska, Shergarh, and Patrapur blocks, gheraoed Pradhan's home. Following a fight with them, the accused ran away.

Satya Dandasena, the sarpanch of Sikulipadar, promised that "we will see to it that action is taken against him and the victims receive their money back."
