Cuttack: In the Cuttack region of Odisha, a state-run institution was shut down after 27 of its pupils tested positive for COVID on Thursday.

The college and hostel would be closed for the next week, according to the principal.

In the past 24 hours, Cuttack district had 88 COVID cases, ranking second only to Khurda's 183 cases. Odisha's daily COVID instances surpassed 400, and on Thursday, the number of active cases surpassed 2,000.

The COVID situation in Odisha is anticipated to worsen during the next 20 to 25 days, according to Dr. Niranjan Mishra, director of public health, who made this statement on Wednesday. The severity of the instances will be minimal, but the number may rise, he added.
