Bargarh: A day after the alleged spying incident at the BJP camp, Income Tax officials conducted simultaneous raids on the homes of three BJD workers in Odisha's Bargarh district on Monday, in the presence of armed CRPF jawans.

Md Sajid of Bahidarpada, Manabhanjan Sahu of Sahupada, and Gaju Agrawal of Badapada in poll-bound Padampur have been identified as BJD workers. They are all businesspeople.

Mohammed Sajid was a friend of the late Padampur MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha, whose death prompted the Assembly byelection.

The motive for the raids has yet to be determined. However, it is significant because BJD employees are being scrutinized ahead of the December 5 byelection.
