Increased DA for Central Government Employees and Pensioners

New Delhi: The Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees of the Central Government and pensioners has been enhanced from 17 percent to 28 percent. This will take effect on July 1, 2021, according to Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Hundreds of thousands of central government employees and retirees will benefit financially, allowing them to spend more during the next festival season.

The government announced last year that the increase of DA and DR (Dearness Relief) will be frozen until July 2021.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence hosted the first in-person meeting of the Union Cabinet in almost a year. According to Business Standard, the meeting would take place before of Parliament's Monsoon session.
