Jharsuguda: In the Jharsuguda district of Odisha, security personnel arrested a junior engineer on Thursday as he was accepting birbe.
The Vigilance Department set up a trap after receiving a complaint from a contractor alleging that Tikinath Bhainsal, a junior engineer in the Lakhanpur block, demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 to facilitate settlement of his unpaid invoices.
According to the plan, the contractor proceeded to provide the junior engineer the first instalment of the demanded bribe, which was Rs 25,000. The Vigilance officers captured Bhainsal in the act of receiving the money.
They took it from Bhainsal and retrieved the Rs 25,000 bribe.
