To frustrate Andhra Pradesh's plans to meddle in Kotia's panchayat elections, the state's three major parties resolved to select consensus candidates for various positions rather than hold polls.

On Thursday, an all-party meeting reached a conclusion. Ishwar Panigrahi, the BJD district president in Koraput and the convener of the all-party committee, presided over the meeting. The BJP's Jairam Pangi and the Congress' Minakshi Bahinipati represented their respective parties.

It was also decided that any candidate chosen for a position would quit from their current political party. Furthermore, all candidates will be chosen solely from the panchayat.

Mamata is neither affiliated with any political party, nor is she related to any of Koraput's political figures. In the event of a tie at the formation of the ZP council, she will abstain from voting.

Mamata was chosen to protect the disputed areas of Kotia from regular incursion efforts by Andhra Pradesh, according to Panigrahi, as stated by media.
