Puri: A guy went missing on Sunday after engaging in a similar deed in the Puri district of Odisha, a day after a little girl allegedly plunged into a barrage to commit suicide in that state's Angul district.

Sources claim that the 50-year-old man, Gagan Pradhan, of the town's Baliguali neighbourhood within Marine police borders, left his home at around 4 p.m. after telling his family he was going to view the Nuanai River's floodwaters.

Gagan travelled to the nearby river bridge and explored there for about an hour. Then, in front of a large crowd, he leaped into the brimming Nuanai. According to eyewitnesses at the scene, no one dared into the river to save him because to the strong current in the floodwater.

They claimed that Gagan was being carried toward the ocean by the swift water of the river even as they observed it. After being notified, the fire department and police arrived on the scene. Gagan was, however, nowhere to be seen when they got there.

However, the firefighters began searching the region and the river's downstream. Even though the nighttime darkness hindered their attempts, they were unable to find Gagan.

It should be noted that a little girl committed suicide on Saturday by jumping into the floodwater of the barrage at Samal under Kaniha block in the Angul district. After the authorities shut the gates due to the bombardment, the locals had saved her.
