Balasore: Police arrested a lady and her husband on Friday for allegedly murdering her boyfriend, whose headless body was discovered in Khannagar under Sadar police limits in Balasore district and severed head in Bhandaripokhari under Bhadrak district a week later.

Fakir Nayak and Sumitra Nayak have been named as the defendants. Sridhar Dalbehera, the victim, hails from the Nayagarh district. With the past three years, they have been working for RWSS on the 'Basudha' project in Khannagar, Balasore.

According to police sources, during their stay there, Sridhar and Sumitra started an adulterous connection and chose to stay together, after which Fakir went for his village.

Sridhar allegedly attacked Sumitra over a problem on November 5. The following night, as he was sleeping, the woman cut his head with an axe. She immediately dialled her husband's number and notified him of the murder. Fakir arrived in Balasore on a motorcycle, and the couple dumped the decapitated body in a nearby overgrown property.

The duo then rode their two-wheeler to Nayagarh and dumped the head on an under-construction ditch near Chatabara Chhak in Bhadrak.

Meanwhile, after his younger brother was unable to contact him, Sridhar's family filed a complaint with Kantapada police.

His decapitated body was discovered on November 12th. As a result, Sadar Police filed a complaint and began an investigation. According to the sources, Sumitra was apprehended in Cuttack, while Fakir was apprehended in Nayagarh.
