Koraput: On Saturday, unidentified miscreants allegedly set fire to a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM kiosk after stealing lakhs of rupees in Odisha's Koraput district.

At around 4 a.m., four miscreants arrived in a car at the ATM kiosk in front of the SBI branch at Balda under Padua police station in the district's Nandapur block. They used a gas cutter to open the ATM machine and remove the cash box. They then set fire to the machine while leaving the CCTV camera alone.

They carried the cash box to Padua, extracted the money, and dumped the box near a pond. The cash box held approximately Rs 32 lakh. According to the sources, the cash was stocked on Friday.

Locals called the police after discovering the burned-out ATM kiosk. Nandapur SDPO Sanjay Kumar Mahapatra and Padua IIC Sabyasachi Satpathy led a police team to the scene and began an investigation.

The police team has seized footage from the bank's CCTV camera for further investigation. According to police sources, the entire operation of the miscreants was captured on CCTV.
