Odia actor Mihir Das passes away

Cuttack: On Tuesday, veteran Odia actor Mihir Das died in a private hospital in Cuttack city. He was 63 years old at the time.

Since December 7, the actor had been receiving treatment at the hospital for kidney problems. After his condition deteriorated, he was placed on ventilator support two days later.

Amlan Das, his son, told the media on December 10 that he was responding well to the treatment.

At the time of his death, certain members of the film fraternity and his son Amlan were at the hospital, leaving a vacuum in Odisha's film and television business.

Das got the state government's Best Actor award for his performances in Laxmi Protima in 1998 and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni in 2005 throughout his three-decade career. Pua Mora Bholashankar, on the other hand, catapulted him to fame.

He was also nominated for Best Comedian in 2007 for Mu Tate Love Karuchi and Best Supporting Actor in 2010 for Prema Adhei Akhyara. In 2009's Abhimanyu, he played the antagonist.
