Bhubaneswar: On Saturday's episode of the renowned singing reality series Indian Idol 13, Prabhupada Mohanty, an Odisha native from Balasore, received a golden ticket in the audition round.

A total of 16 applicants, including Prabhupada, have received golden tickets thus far out of the hundreds who attended the Delhi auditions. Prabhupada was the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs season 1 winner, placed in the top 12 in season 5 of the same programme, has appeared on other Odia singing reality shows, and sings the playback for a number of Odia songs.

Prabhupada was chosen from among the competitors on Saturday by Bollywood singer Himesh Reshammiya, who had gathered them at a stadium prior to the audition stage.

Later in the audition process, Prabhupada performed the song "Chori Kiya Re Jiya" from the film "Dabangg." Because the song was written by the team Sajid-Wajid, judges Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya broke down in tears when he sang.

On June 1, 2020, Wajid Khan, 42, passed away from kidney problems.
