Bhubaneswar: Two ganja traffickers from the Ganjam district of Odisha have had properties worth over Rs 3 crore illegally obtained, according to the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha police.

According to an official statement, "a competent authority under the Narcotics, Drugs, and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act affirmed the freezing/seizing order on July 26."

Banmali Pradhan and Arun Kumar Pradhan, residents of the Buguda neighbourhood in the Ganjam district, have been named as the ganja traffickers.

Following the April 29, 2022 seizure of 106 kg of marijuana and 517 grammes of opium from the siblings' possession, a background check into their ancestry was mandated.

The investigation found that over the previous six years, Arun and Banamali reportedly used ill-gotten gains from narcotics trafficking to purchase assets totaling more than Rs 3 crore. Five commercial structures in Buguda, eight landed assets, deposits in 19 accounts with various banks, two automobiles, and 595 kilos worth of gold jewellery are among them, it continued.
