Kendrapada: On Friday, vigilance officials captured a senior clerk in the Treasury Office while he was collecting a bribe.
The Vigilance Department set up a trap after receiving an allegation that Samara Hembrum, a senior clerk in the district Treasury Office, was asking Rs 5,000 as a bribe to pass the final pension bill of his wife, a retired teacher. For the past two months, the bill has been waiting with Hembrum.
When the complainant went to pay the bribe money to Hembrum, as planned, the Vigilance sleuths apprehended him while accepting it. The full bribe money has been found and taken from Hembrum.
Following the trap, the Vigilance raided Hembrum's home in Kharinasi village, which is under the jurisdiction of Jambu police station.
In this regard, Cuttack Vigilance has filed a case under the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. More research is being carried out.
