Bhubaneswar: The death of journalist Arindam Das in a boat accident while documenting an elephant rescue mission in real time stunned political leaders and individuals from all walks of life. Condolences for the young and brave reporter who died on Friday flooded social media platforms.
A pall of doom fell upon the press corporation as well.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his sympathies, saying that Arindam's death is an irreparable loss to the world of journalism in Odisha. “I pray for the tranquilly of his soul. Also, please pray for the quick recovery of those who were hurt in the incident.”
Baijayant Panda, the BJP's national vice-president, described him as a hero and expressed his sympathies to his family.
