Bhubaneswar: According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a Low Pressure Area (LPA) has developed over north Odisha and the nearby south Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.
According to the report, a low pressure area has formed across north Odisha, neighbouring south Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal, with associated cyclonic circulation reaching up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
In Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, and Balangir districts, the IMD has issued a "orange" warning and predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two locations on Monday. Additionally, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Balasore, and Angul may see isolated areas of heavy rainfall.
On Tuesday, heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two locations in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Deogarh, according to the Met office. In most locations in north Odisha and many locations in south Odisha, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are quite likely to occur.
The SRC has asked the Collectors of the districts who have received a "orange" alert to closely monitor the situation in light of the anticipated severe rainfall. They have been told to stay ready to deal with flooding in low-lying regions and develop plans for excess water drainage.
