Tension at Gajapati DHH as child dies due to lack of treatment
Paralakhemundi: According to reports, a two-year-old boy died on Tuesday at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Paralakhemundi, Odisha's Gajapati.
Ayush, a youngster from Gurandi village in the Gosani tehsil of the district, was taken to the community health centre on Monday night after developing a high fever and was later transferred to DHH, purportedly because there were no doctors available.
But according to his parents, they had a comparable circumstance at DHH. They said that the youngster was treated and given medication by a nurse because no doctors were present.
The child passed away in the hospital shortly after taking the prescription. Anil Kumar Bisoi, the father of Ayush, claimed that the hospital staff had neglected Ayush's medical care, which led to his death.
The body of the deceased was stored on the hospital grounds, and the villagers organised a protest. They have urged the authorities to be punished severely.
Gajapati Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer Pradeep Kumar Patra informed the media that "action will be taken against the authorities responsible following a comprehensive assessment of the doctors' attendance list."
